An electric cooperative has apologized for an error in the reading of an electric bill. 

A social media post of a power consumer in Samal Island containing an electric bill amounting to more than P1 million has gone viral online.

The electric bill also contains the name “Jossel” as someone who reads the electric meter of the consumer on April 4, 2024.

The Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORDECO) immediately issued a statement after the social media post earned various reactions from netizens.

In the statement, the NORDECO said its personnel made a mistake in reading the meter.

The bill was supposed to be P1,500 and not more than P1 million.

NORDECO was also sorry for what it described as an isolated case. The power distributor also said it has no intention to deceive its consumers.

Power consumers are urged to report directly to their office should there be problems in their electric bills for appropriate action.
