Three alleged members of the Dawla Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) were killed while a government soldier was injured in a clash in Barangay Lindongan, Munai, Lanao del Norte.
The Western Mindanao Command identified the fatalities as alias “Firdaus,” alias “Fariz,” and alias “Musab.”
Troops under the 103rd Infantry Brigade (103IB) of the 1st Infantry Division (1ID) engaged with around severn members of DI-MG in a firefight that lasted about 20 minutes.
Seized from the encounter site were three M14 rifles, 7.62mm ammunition, and personal belongings.
103rd Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr., lauded the operating troops for the outcome of the outcome of the operation.
"Our forces' unwavering dedication to safeguarding our communities and maintaining peace and security in the region is demonstrated by our encounter with the DI-MG. The brigade will continue to work tirelessly to eliminate terrorist threats and maintain peace in our area of responsibility,” Barroquillo said.
1ID Commander, Major General Gabriel Viray III, also emphasized the government forces’ commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities in Lanao del Norte while underscoring the brigade’s continuous efforts and initiatives for peace and development.
Operation continues to neutralize the remaining threats posed by DI-MG.
