Burglars entered a chapel in Barangay Glamang, Polomolok, South Cotabato and took away two donation boxes containing an undetermined amount of money.

The boxes were found later at the corn field behind the San Isidro Labrador Chapel, already empty.

Roland Aguiring, a lay cooperator said the boxes have not been opened for around three months as they are confident that no one would touch them inside the chapel.

Kumpyansa ra mi kay simbahan gud,” Aguring said.

It was the first time that the chapel was robbed in more than 70 years, authorities said.

Barangay officials are looking into some personalities who may have a hand in the incident.

“Amo sang gipa-verify kung siya ba gyud. Mga coins ilang gipanguha. Kadto nga grills, bata ra say makasulod ato. Naa poy tao nga naglingkod diha two days before nahitabo daw . Duha gyud ka adlaw apil sab sila sa gipaimbestigahan,” Barangay Chairman, Russel Bacus, said.

Prior to the incident, a computer shop in the area was also robbed by two boys. Authorities have called the suspects’ parents to settle the matter.

Authorities said barangay tanods have been patrolling the community.
