The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has admonished content creator Ronnie Suan, more popularly known in his video logs (vlogs) as “Boy Tapang” for his wrong use of banknotes.

Suan said he thought it would be fun to use a million P1,000 bills to create a money kite purposely for his video content.

“Pang-entertainment purposes lang po kasi kung gagawa ako ng saranggola na plastic napaka-common na po,” Suan said in a video post after a BSP representative visited him and pointed out of his inappropriate use of the bills as well as the law that governs the proper use of banknotes in the country.

A person can be held liable for any violations to Presidential Decree 247 that prohibits and penalizes the defacement, mutilation, tearing, burning, or destruction of Philippine Central Bank notes and coins.

PD 247 emphasizes the importance of “preserving the currency's integrity and lifespan to maintain the stability of the financial system and promote economic growth.”

Suan, in his video post, apologized to the BSP and to the public for his wrongdoing, and urged his followers to stop sharing the video.

“Pakibura nyo na lang po dahil baka maimbestigahan po kayo kagaya ko,” he said.
