A 33-year-old fisherman was arrested for mauling his own mother in Barangay Surop, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The suspect was seen in a video pulling and beating up his mother. His nephew ran for help from the neighbors and authorities.

“Ang suspect nahuli natin doon pumunta sa kapitbahay doon siya nagtago pero naituro siya ng mga barangay tanod ng mga witness natin kaya nasundan natin at nahuli natin,” Governor Generoso Municipal Police Station Chief, Captain Jeoffre Narido, said.

Police said the suspect reportedly blamed his mother for the break-up with his live-in partner.

“Meron silang alitan before kasi iniwan ito ng ka live-in ng suspek. Kaya noong nakainom siya that time, siguro binalikan niya ang mga nakaraan niya. Yung ang dahlian kung bakit nagalit siya sa mother niya,” Narido added.

The 51-year-old mother of the suspect sustained bruises and wounds in the body.

“Pirti gyu’ng sakita. Diabetic pa ko. Hapit na ma-acute ang akong ulcer. Nagpakiluoy ko niya nga undangan ko niya’g kulata. Gipalong gani niya ang mga suga aron dili makita nga gina-video sa akong mga apo. Sakit gyud kaayo. Ang akong kilid, daw mangabali ang akong bukog,” the mother said.

The mother added that it was the fourth time she was beaten by her son. The suspect was already imprisoned before for the same reason, but his mother withdrew the complaint out of pity.

However, the mother is now determined to pursue with the case after she was threatened by her son.

“Katung niagi napasaylo nako siya. Pero karun wala na jud koy nabati nga kaluoy sa iyang gibuhat kanako kay pirte jud nako’g pakaluoy nga undangan ko niya. Kay kung wala ko gidagan aning anak nako, patyon gyud ko niya kay nakakita na siya’g şundang,” the mother said.

The suspect is facing less serious physical injury charges.
