A regular employee of the City Government of Bacolod tampered allegedly an official receipt issued to a traffic violator.

The traffic violator showed an official receipt dated April 18, 2024 worth P1,300 as fine for driving without license and for not wearing a crash helmet. But the traffic violator complained later on after receiving from the cashier an encoded or computer-generated receipt of the City Treasurer’s Office which showed of only P300.

It was observed that the digit “1” was added before the digits “300” to make the amount appear as P1,300.

According to Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez, such is apparently a case of tampering and a form of corruption.

The cashier was removed already from the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office by the City Treasurer’s Office pending investigation on the incident.

The City Legal Office has prepared the administrative and criminal cases to be filed against the cashier.
