The Municipality of Dauis in the Province of Bohol is declared under a state of calamity because of African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak.

The declaration made by the town council of Dauis is directed at preventing contagion and spread of ASF from the island of Panglao to mainland Bohol.

The declaration also allows the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to allocate 30 percent of the Quick Response Fund to assist hog-raisers affected by the ASF outbreak.

A portion of the fund will also help provide additional food supplies to force multipliers of a containment team manning a checkpoint at the border of Panglao Island and mainland Bohol.

According to the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, dead pigs already reached 59 in three barangays - Mayacabac, Biking, and Mariveles in Dauis situated in the island of Panglao.

The Provincial Government of Bohol has set aside financial assistance worth P5,000 for pigs that have already reached the marketable age, and P1,000 for piglets to help affected hograisers and caretakers.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office distributed financial assistance worth P10,000 to each family affected by ASF.

The border control is mounted to prevent hogs, pork, and pork products from getting transported to mainland Bohol from the island of Panglao.
