A Grade 11 student in Dagupan City, Pangasinan was attacked by a group of Grade 7 and Grade 8 students outside the school premises after classes.

A closed circuit television (CCTV) captured the moment the victim was approached, hit, and beaten by a group of male students.

According to the parent of the victim, the incident took place on Burgos Street.

The attackers, reportedly from the same school as the victim, targeted the student on their way home.

“Mga lima ‘yung nakikita sa CCTV. Sabi ng anak ko, hindi raw niya kakilala ang mga ‘yun. Grade Seven and Eight [yung nag-atake sakanya], samantalang ang anak ko, Grade 11,” Annabelle Paris, the parent of the victim, said.

The student sustained injuries in the face and back but has since returned to school.

The incident has been reported to the authorities at Dagupan City National High School.

Paris hopes that such incidents will not happen again.

Meanwhile, the school administration declined to give a recorded interview but assured that it is looking into the matter. It has reportedly started gathering statements from the students involved.

The school has spoken with the parent of the victim, and further discussions are scheduled.

The Department of Education (DepEd) - Region 1 said it will give particular attention to bullying in schools to prevent the same incident from recurring.
