Authorities seized alleged smuggled cigarettes worth around P3.2 million at a checkpoint in Barangay Lacson, Calinan, Davao City.
Members of Task Force Davao intercepted a container van loaded with boxes containing assorted cigarettes.
Task Force Davao spokesperson, Major John Loiue Dema-ala, said the vehicle came from Zamboanga City and bound for Davao City.
The van driver and the helper reportedly admitted that the boxes of cigarettes were smuggled.
The suspects are now under police custody while the seized items were turned over to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
