Two policemen in Salug, Zamboanga del Norte were relieved from their post for allegedly throwing a drunken fit at a native carnival or “peryahan” in the town.

A video captured by a netizen showed the two policemen with ranks patrolman and master sergeant who seemed to be misconducting themselves as they confronted the supposed owner of the “peryahan” including the netizen who was taking the video.

According to the netizen, the two policemen were angry because the “peryahan” was allegedly operating without a permit.

“Gatudlo-tudlo sya, suko gyud kaayo ba. Mao to’y tag-iya sa peryahan, base sa among gipangutana nila, nangayo lagi daw (og kwarta), unya gigamyan siguro, maong perting sukoa nila, paundangon ang perya. Nasuko pud ang taga-perya kay nganong paundangon man nga naa man sila’y permit,” the netizen who took the video said.

In another video footage, the two were seen being escorted by their colleagues as they returned to the police station.

The video made the rounds on social media until it reached the attention of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office (ZDNPPO).

According to the ZDNPPO, the two policemen who were found to be drunk while on duty have already been relieved and placed under restrictive custody.

“If there are evidence that will prove that they have committed disorderly conduct during that night, they will be administratively charged under the influence of alcohol while in the performance of duty. Hopefully, within this week, ma-file na nato ang administrative case against those involved,” ZDNPPO Provincial Director, Colonel Rainier Diaz, said.
