An Indian national who was allegedly part of an illegal lending gang and was intercepted at the Davao International Airport is set to be deported back to his country.

The 19-year-old foreigner was taken into custody after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) found discrepancies in his travel documents, including a fake return ticket.

He came from Singapore and landed at the Davao International Airport for a supposed vacation over the weekend.

“Ang kanya pong statement is mamamasyal lang po siya dito but with the presentation of the fake return ticket that means maari pong may other siya na intention dito sa ating bansa,” Bureau of Immigration Spokesperson, Dana Krizia Sandoval, said.

Authorities are looking into a possibility that the foreigner was part of the illegal lending gang that operates in the region.

“Ito pong mga foreign nationals na ito, usually they are holding a tourist visa and they are overstaying already and some don’t have the proper documentation.

The Indian national was included in the BI’s blacklist.
