Anti-narcotics agents seized suspected shabu worth around P145.5 million in Zamboanga City, the largest haul of illegal drugs in Zamboanga Peninsula, by far.

The operation, launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga (PDEA-9) on May 2, 2024, also resulted in the arrest of four suspects.

Seized from the suspects were big sachets of suspected shabu weighing 21.4 kilos, a caliber .45 pistol, and ammunition.

The suspects are now detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165) and Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).

“This major seizure dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade network operating within the region, disrupting supply chains and thwarting attempts to distribute narcotics into local communities,” PDEA-9 said.

“PDEA and PNP remain steadfast in their commitment to dismantling drug syndicates and holding accountable those responsible for fueling the cycle of addiction and crime,” it added.
