Authorities have arrested 13 alleged escorts of a man wanted for several charges when they served an arrest warrant in Barangay Macaguiling, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The subject of the warrant, however, a certain "Commander Paradise," evaded arrest, said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (CIDG-BAR).
Seized from the 13 alleged escorts were firearms, including a 5.56 rifle, a caliber .45 pistol, and bullets. They will be facing charges for obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
"Habang ini-implement namin yung warrant of arrest, it so happen na nakatakas si Commander Paradise . Ginagawa silang shield ni Commander Paradise, of which alam naman nila na si Commaner Paradise ay may existing warrant of arrest,” CIDG-BAR Chief, Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca, said.
CIDG-BAR said “Commander Paradise” is facing various charges, including serious illegal detention, destructive arson, and attempted murder.
He reportedly escaped during the service of the warrant by using a child as a human shield. Because of this, he may face additional charges.
"We can arrest Commander Paradise (noong Lunes) pero yun na nga, it will cause a lot of damage. Maraming tinatawag nating collateral, may collateral damages talaga na mangyayari kung pinilit naming,” Huesca added.
Authorities said “Commander Paradise” is listed as alleged member of a local terrorist group and a P1.2 million bounty has been offered for his arrest.
