A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage caught in the act a man who ransacked the Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center (JASAC) Drugstore in Arevalo District, Iloilo City.

The man opened the roll-up door, entered through a sliding window, and unlocked drawers.

He carted away an estimated P50,000 for about two days' worth of sales.

According to an investigation of the police and the drugstore in-charge, the burglar first entered the rear side of the pharmacy through the window of the comfort room and got the key to the roll-up door.

Sales are deposited in the bank on a regular basis, however proceeds in the last two days were overlooked reportedly.

“Usually, araw-araw dinideposito namin yan ngunit dahil may dalawang araw na medyo abala kami, na-overlook. Yan lang naman kasi bago pa naman itong JASAC Drugstore,” Msgr. Meliton Oso, JASAC director, said.

Authorities said that based on how the burglar moved inside the drugstore, he is familiar with the place. However, the Arevalo Police said it is not clear yet if the incident is what one might call an "inside job."

“Titingnan natin yan kasi bagong building yan, bago lang ipinatayo. At wala pa siyang security fence, ongoing construction [pa],” according to Captain Benjie Dicen, chief of the Arevalo Police Station.

Msgr. Oso said that forgiveness would be easy if the man got the money because of financial constraints. But if it was spent for vices, the burglar should be charged once he gets arrested because it is unfair to the hardworking staff of the center.

“Sana gamitin niya sa totoong pangangailangan. We can forgive you. Ngunit kung sa bisyo, dapat ka talagang mahuli dahil hindi kami papayag na ang aming pinaghirapan ay gamitin sa bisyo," Msgr. Oso said.

Further investigation is going on, as of this writing.
