One person died while two others were wounded in a shooting incident in Liloan town, north Cebu Province.
Gang war is being looked into as one of the motives in the incident, according to the Liloan Police.
Unidentified perpetrators sprayed bullets at a group of persons hanging out at a convenience store in Barangay Yati at past 4 a.m. on May 9, 2024.
Three persons who were injured in the incident are reportedly from Liloan, ages 18 years old, 17 years old, and 16 years old. The three were rushed to the hospital but the 16-year-old girl expired at past 7 a.m. to two gunshot wounds on her chest.
In a CCTV footage, at least five perpetrators were seen firing at persons in the area and fled separately onboard two motorcycles.
Police found 18 empty shells and two slugs at the crime scene.
The victims are alleged members of a gang. Prior to the incident, they were said to be in Mandaue City attending a fiesta celebration, according to the police.
Police Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Liloan Police Station, said that the authorities have launched a hot-pursuit operation.
Aside from suspected gang war, police are looking into personal grudge, love triangle and other possibilities.
