A fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Trapiche Uno, Tanauan City, on May 8, 2024, displacing 76 families.
The barangay and local government sent aid to the residents, including rice, sleeping and cooking materials, and grocery packs immediately.
Some affected residents appealed for assistance as they were unable to salvage any belongings.
The Tanauan City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) continues to investigate the cause of the fire and the exact number of houses affected, as of this writing.
The Tanauan City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) is arranging an evacuation area in Barangay Sambat for the families affected by the fire.
Meanwhile, a house was destroyed by fire in Barangay Pawili, Pili, Camarines Sur.
The house was made of light materials, which was why the fire spread quickly.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Pili said that the fire was caused by a cooking stove that was on but was left unattended.
“Su kawsa kan kasulo iyo ‘tong cooking stove. Napagaraman na nagluluto su tao duman and then medyo nag-panic so napabayaan na,” FO2 Jeffrey Diaz, Public Information Officer of BFP Pili Fire Station, said.
Data from BFP Pili shows that from January 2024 to May 9, 2024, there have been 14 structural fires in the town.
This is higher compared to the six incidents in the same period in 2023.
