The Davao City Tourism Operations Office (DCTOO) is beefing up the implementation of an ordinance that seeks to create a Barangay Tourism Council tasked to promote and regulate tourism activities in every barangay.
It was in 2003 when the ordinance was passed, which aims to strengthen the tourism industry in every barangay in the city.
According to DCTOO, the city’s tourism approach has expanded from focusing on the heart of the city to the hinterlands.
DCTTO has also started the inventory of upland areas that are potential tourist destinations.
“Eco-adventure, that is enjoying the nature through hiking, through trekking.
To regulate tourism establishments, DCTOO will issue the city tourism certificate through its licensing unit.
The office is also monitoring all tourism-related establishments that are non-compliant and without accreditation.
“Tanan its a worthwhile activity siya nga ang endpoint niya is responsible, regulated tourism na everybody get to enjoy unya wala tay maligsan,” Romero said.
