The driver of a car died while six others were injured when the vehicle they were riding plunged into a river in Ragay, Camarines Sur on May 12, 2024.
Authorities said the driver lost control of the car, causing it to fall off the bridge and plummet to the river below. The car reportedly got submerged in four to five meters of water.
“Dun siya dumaan sa alternate route na pig-provide kasi ma-traffic dun sa highway, and according to reports, nawalan siya nang control dun sa steering niya, and nahulog yung kotse sa ilog,” Neopito Tipay Jr., Head of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Ragay, explained, said.
Video footage captured the time authorities pulled the car out of the river.
MDRRMO Ragay said the passengers were headed to Masbate from Cavite.
Authorities suspect that the driver may not have noticed the traffic sign due to heavy rains in the area.
The passengers rescued received medical attention.
