The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) - 4A has issued show cause orders to over 4,000 operators of unconsolidated jeepneys in CALABARZON.
Hearings for those who did not comply is set on May 21, 2024.
“After the hearing, and we find the reasons para hindi na makasama sa prangkisa, ay sunod niyan ay order of revocation of cancellation of individual franchises,” Loumer Bernabe, Regional Director, LTFRB 4A, said.
Starting on May 16, unconsolidated jeepney units should no longer operate, and LTFRB enforcers will begin strict enforcement.
“Hindi natin masasabing hulihan, our enforcers will be going out to remind those who fail to consolidate na meron nga tayong hearing sa May 21. They will be advised to attend the said hearing, kapag hindi sila umattend ng hearing, wini-waive nila 'yung karapatan for due process,” Bernabe said.
LTFRB-4A is also planning to issue QR codes to drivers, which will indicate the jeepney's consolidated status.
The agency said consolidated traditional units that are still roadworthy can continue to operate, while cooperatives do not yet have modernized jeepneys.
They said there will be no shortage of jeepneys in areas with low consolidation numbers.
“Naka-ready naman kami dun, kasi yung mga ruta na kumpleto, 60 percent and above na nagconsolidate ay nakausap namin sila na kung pwede i-share nila yung unit nila,” Bernabe added.
