Each day, around 20 to 30 riders are caught at police checkpoints in interior roads of barangays in Calasiao, Pangasinan for various violations.
Police said the most common violation is the non-wearing of helmets.
In Barangay Banaoang, several riders, who were found without helmets, reasoned that they drive slowly and avoid the national highway.
“May mga nahuhuli na hindi nagsusuot ng helmet, everyday. Sa isang araw kasi dalawa hanggang tatlong beses ang operations ng checkpoint kaya marami,” PLTCOL. Ferdinand Lopez, Officer-in-Charge at Calasiao Police Station, said.
Police said these checkpoints are part of the anti-criminality campaign and aim to ensure the safety of motorists on the roads.
