The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) is closely monitoring the case of three students in Lubao, Pampanga who are refusing to attend school after their teacher allegedly abused them verbally and physically.

“Kahapon po, hindi nga siya nagsasalita… siguro po dahil sa takot,” the mother of one of the students said.

According to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWD) of Lubao, the students were made to undergo psychosocial assessment. Because they are minors, the children will also be made to undergo psychological evaluation.

“Nakausap na po namin ‘yung mga bata and nag-conduct na rin po ng meeting with their parents. ‘Yung psychosocial tapos na po, ‘yung psychological evaluation na lang po ang naka-schedule po this week,” Noeme Dalit, Social Welfare Officer, said.

CHR-3 condemned the teacher’s actions.

“Hindi na po pinapayagan ang ganyang punishment sa mga bata. We will review the veracity of the video and pakinggan namin ang side ng lahat. We will conduct [an] independent investigation from them,” Atty. Leorae Valmonte of CHR Region 3, said.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) Pampanga said they do not tolerate such incidents and are conducting their own investigation.
