A residential fire destroyed around 60 houses in Sitio Alliance, Barangay Basak, Mandaue City at about noontime on May 23, 2024.
The fire was raised to second alarm at 12:11 p.m. The blaze was put under control at 12:27 p.m., while a fire-out was declared by 12:43 p.m.
Based on a list of the Mandaue City Social Welfare Services (MCSWS) at around 3 p.m. on May 23, 2024, the total number of families affected reached 70 or 375 individuals.
Damage is estimated to have reached P280,000.
As of posting time, the Bureau of Fire Protection in Mandaue City is yet to release details on what could have caused the fire.
MCSWS provided food and hygiene kits to the affected residents that have sought shelter at the barangay gym.
