The local government of Digos City in Davao del Sur destroyed at least 47 defective and uncalibrated weighing scales seized from the market.
Lolemier Egos, manager of the Office of the City Economic Enterprise and City General Services Office, said the destruction of fraudulent weighing scales aims to show that the local government is serious in imposing penalties to vendors doing business unscrupulously.
The destruction of the seized weighing scales is also part of the local government’s efforts in providing fair service to customers of the Digos City Mega Market.
The local government urged the buying public to be vigilant and to always check if a weighing scale is calibrated or not.
