Severe Tropical Storm "Aghon" (STS Aghon) is moving northeast over the Philippine Sea, east of Aurora Province. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) 8 a.m. update, the center was last spotted near Casiguran, Aurora.

It has sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 170 kilometers per hour, moving north northeastward at 10 kilometers per hour.

Heavy rainfall is expected today, May 27, 2024, in eastern Isabela and northern Aurora. Rainfall will be higher in mountainous areas, which may cause flooding and landslides, especially in places already affected by heavy rain.

Areas under Wind Signal Number 2, such as southeastern Isabela and northern Aurora, may experience minor to moderate wind damage. Areas under Wind Signal Number 1, including parts of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Quezon (including Polillo Islands), and Camarines Norte (including Calaguas Islands), may see minimal to minor wind damage.

A gale warning is in effect for southern Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and northern Quezon (including Polillo Islands). Moderate to rough seas are expected in eastern Cagayan and northern Bicol.

The storm is expected to get stronger over the next two days but may weaken as it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, May 29 by the afternoon or evening.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 2 was raised over the following areas:

  • Southeastern Portion of Isabela: Dinapigue, Palanan
  • Northern Portion of Aurora: Dilasag, Casiguran

TWCS Number 1 was raised over the following areas:

  • Northeastern and Southern Portions of Isabela: Divilacan, San Mariano, San Guillermo, Jones, Echague, San Agustin, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, City of Cauayan, Maconacon, Angadanan, Naguilian
  • Eastern Portion of Quirino: Maddela, Nagtipunan, Aglipay
  • Southern Portion of Nueva Vizcaya: Alfonso Castaneda
  • The rest of Aurora
  • Northern Portion of Quezon: General Nakar, Infanta, Real, including Polillo Islands
  • Northwestern Portion of Camarines Norte: Paracale, Jose Panganiban, Vinzons, Capalonga, including Calaguas Islands
