The Aroroy Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and PCG Masbate rescued 42 passengers and crew members after their passenger boat sank on May 24, 2024.
The passenger boat was traveling to Masbate City from Claveria, Masbate.
According to the Masbate Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), there was no storm signal and travel advisory issued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) during the boat's departure.
However, the boat encountered bad weather at sea.
In Pio Duran, Albay, authorities also rescued a fisherman whose boat was reported missing due to the rough weather conditions at sea.
