Two women were injured after they were assaulted with a machete in separate incidents in Basud, Camarines Norte.
One of the victims said she was taking a bath in the river with her nephew when a man carrying a machete approached them, and demanded that she come with him.
The victim resisted, which caused the man to attack her. Fortunately, the machete did not hit her.
The suspect then attempted to drown the victim and beat her.
It was only when someone saw what happened that the suspect fled immediately.
Meanwhile, the other victim was injured when an unidentified assailant who allegedly trespassed her home hit her on the head.
The victim said the man was carrying a machete but he reportedly dropped it when she pushed him away.
The man then grabbed a bamboo stick and started hitting her on the head.
“Tinulak ko po siya ng malakas, tapos po yung itak niya nabitawan niya. Tapos ang nakuha niya po yung kawayan, yun na po pinagpu-pokpok niya na po ako sa ulo, tas nagpara-sigaw po ako," the victim said.
As of this writing, authorities continue their investigation to locate and arrest the suspects behind the attacks.
“Pursigido pong mahuli itong pinaghihinalaang suspek at mabigyan nating hustisya yung kanyang ginawang karumal-dumal na gawain, sa gayon po ay maibsan po natin yung mga pangamba ng ating mga kababayan," PSSG Joy Cortez, from Basud Municipal Police Station, said.
