A 64-year-old man was found dead inside his house in Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Police entered the house in Barangay Bued forcibly after Cristito Andaya reportedly was not picking up calls for several days.

Upon entering, authorities were met with a foul odor and found Andaya dead.

"May inutusan kami para tumingin sa bahay pero mabaho na sa bahay. Nandoon na pala siya, nakabulagta sa sofa," Myrna Rullan, the victim’s sister, said.

Andaya was last seen alive on May 27, 2024 having dinner at a local canteen. He lived alone because his children were abroad.

Family members suspect Andaya may have suffered from hypertension, which was compounded by the extreme heat.

"Parang heatstroke na rin kasi ilang araw na niyang idinadaing ‘yung pagsakit ng dibdib niya, at ‘yun pinuntahan na ng SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives) at police, at diyan nadiskubre," Lorna Flores, the victim’s cousin, said.

Because it was already in an advanced stage of decomposition, Andaya’s body was cremated even without autopsy. Police found no sign of foul play.

"Pina-SOCO namin, wala ring nakita na talagang visible. Morally convinced din ang pamilya na he died naturally. ‘Yung bahay, wala ring sign ng forced entry [at] naka-lock," PSMS. Apollo Flandez, Chief Investigator, Calasiao Police Station, said.
