A 12-hour brownout is set to affect Bacolod City and other parts of Negros Occidental on June 2, 2024, Sunday.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will shut down its Bacolod-San Enrique 69kV transmission line (TL), affecting Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO)’s Sum-ag and Hilangban substations on June 2, 2024.

CENECO, in an advisory, said it will take advantage of the downtime by implementing simultaneous maintenance works.

The following are the details of the power outage:

Time: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Reasons:

NGCP will conduct:

* Wood pole replacement along Matugnaw-La Carlota line section;

* Resetting of Bacolod-San Enrique relay protection Bacolod substation; and

* Preventive maintenance schedule of La Carlota Solar Power Plant per MOA request.

CENECO’s ride-on activities:

* Preventive maintenance of 30MVA Hilangban substation and 10MVA Sum-ag substation;

* Replacement of rotten primary poles; and

* Tree clearing activities.

Electricity consumers are further advised that, in the event of any power interruption, electrical switch/es should be turned-off for safety reasons, CENECO said.

“When electricity supply resumes, please provide allowance of about 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge,” it added.
