A 36-year-old construction worker died in the hospital after he was stabbed by his 70-year-old drinking companion in Sitio Kimbuaya, Suyo Proper, Suyo, Ilocos Sur.
The victim was identified as Danny Bugtong.
According to the police, the suspect had gone home earlier to sleep but found his son with facial injuries, punched allegedly by one of the people he was drinking with.
"Upon knowing na nasuntok, nakita niya na may damage sa mukha ang kanyang anak... siguro kumulo na ‘yung kanyang dugo and then kumuha ng kutsilyo," PCPT. Godofredo Ribuyaco, Officer-in-Charge at Suyo Police Station, said.
The suspect returned to confront his drinking companions but encountered Bugtong, instead, and stabbed him in the chest.
The suspect fled but was arrested later by the police. The murder weapon was also recovered.
Bugtong's family said they will file homicide charges.
