Four people died in a three-vehicle collision along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Talisay, Tiaong, Quezon.

According to the police, a van, carrying 10 passengers, attempted to overtake a sports utility vehicle (SUV), when it grazed the SUV before colliding into an oncoming passenger bus.

The incident occurred on a four-lane highway during fair weather conditions.

"Fair naman ‘yung weather condition, wala namang ulan. Kasi ‘yung kalsada four lanes, so mabilis ‘yung takbo ng mga sasakyan at that time kasi madaling araw,"  PLTCOL. Daniel Camposo, the Chief of Police, said.

The victims were transported to the hospital immediately, where four van passengers, including two minors, were pronounced dead.

While the bus driver sustained minor injuries, all other occupants of both the bus and the SUV were reported safe.

The van driver, now in police custody, will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.

"Base sa investigation namin, ang nakikitang may pagkukulang ay ‘yung driver ng van. ‘Yun nga po ang dino-document naming at fa-file-an naming ng appropriate charge," Camposo said.

The investigation continues as of this writing.
