The 37 workers of the Davao CIty government who were dismissed from service after testing positive for illegal drugs showed poor performance at work, an officer of the city's Anti-Drug Abuse Council said.

“May mga indication sa behavior kasi mismo mayroong mga indication yung mga possible na mag-positive kasi minsan hindi sila effective sa trabaho nila, parang nali-late, sige absent... yun kasi yung mga indication din na possible merong problema sa employee,” Jaffar Marohomsalic, action officer of the council, said.

The 37 are personnel of the city's Public Safety and Security Office.

Davao Mayor Sebastian Duterte told employees of the city government not to waste the city's time and resources by ending up using illegal drugs.

“Kung naa ka sa gobyerno, ayaw sunuga ang gisweldo sa tao saimoha para sa ingon ana nga butang kay kalas-kalas rakag panahon natong tanan diri,” Duterte said.

He first made the warning when he declared a war against illegal drugs in the city.
