A police sergeant was arrested with suspected shabu worth nearly P800,000 in a raid in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro on Monday, June 3, 2024.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao (PDEA) arrested the 52-year-old policeman dentified as alias “Sarge” by virtue of a search warrant. He was assigned at the Initao Municipal Police Station in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

PDEA-10 said the suspect was arrested previously and was detained for a similar offense. He was released after the case was dismissed and he got reinstated into the police service.

The suspect is set to undergo drug testing to determine whether or not he is using illegal drugs.

Authorities continue their investigation into the suspect's alleged illegal drug activities and his possible cohorts.

Seized from the suspect were sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 110 grams, eight boxes of ammunition, a Glock 17 pistol, three cellphones, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect is now detained at the PDEA jail facility and will face drug charges.

“This significant bust underscores the commitment of PDEA and our law enforcement partners to eradicating illegal drugs from our communities, regardless of the perpetrator's position or status. Director Gaspi emphasized the importance of integrity within law enforcement and reiterated PDEA's dedication to ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable,” PDEA-10 said.
