A major portion of the Old Albay District in Legazpi City, Albay lost power for almost two hours after an electric pole of the Albay Electric Cooperative (ALECO) caught fire.

Bureau of Fire (BFP) personnel responded immediately so the fire did not spread to buildings nearby.

The tangled telecommunication wires on the pole is seen as one of the causes of the fire.

“Initially napag-araman mi po na ito po is due to the wires allegedly kan telcos," Anj Galero, Spokesperson of ALECO, said.

Electric supply was restored after almost two hours, while internet connection issues persisted longer.

The City Engineering Office said they will conduct an investigation after they noticed that some telecommunication operators are no longer following their policies.

“Ining mga telcos ta talaga dapat sumunod sinda sa may highway sinda eh. Kung minsan dae na nasusunod kaya saturated na maray an mga telcos slides ta," Engr. Clemente Ibo, Legazpi City Engineer, said.
