Church workers and barangay officials participated in a procession on the national highway in Barangay Bued, Calasiao, Pangasinan.
They lit candles and prayed along the road fervently, also blessing the surrounding area.
According to the Barangay Council, this was in response to suggestions from some residents to have the road blessed following a series of accidents.
“Pabasbasan ang kalsada dahil sa [mga] nangyayaring disgrasiya, kaya nagsagawa kami ng basbas ng kalsada at nag-novena,” Marcial Pereyras, barangay councilman, said.
From April 11, 2024 to June 5, 2024, four individuals, including a two-year-old child, died in accidents in the area.
The barangay still calls for extra caution and discipline on the road.
