A five-year-old boy drowned in a pool at a resort in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
The boy was at the resort together with family and relatives.
PLt. Noel Domalanta, intelligence officer of the Calasiao Police Station, said the boy reached the deepest part of the pool.
“Napunta siya sa pinakamalalim na parte ng pool at that time. Gabi na ‘yun. Di nila napansin,” he said.
The boy’s father said he left the resort for a short while only to return with his son already dead.
Those who were at the resort reportedly tried to revive the boy but to no avail.
“Binobomba na sya… hindi na sya natulungan. Hindi na,” the father said.
The boy’s grandmother said her grandchild reportedly lost his two front teeth so he could have been running around, slipped, and fallen into the deep part of the pool.
“Kung may guwardiya, nakita nila. Kawawa ang bata. Siguro, takbo ng takbo ito… nadulas siguro dahil naalis ang dalawang ngipin niya sa harap. Nadulas, napunta sa ilalim,” she said.
Police are looking into the incident.
“Tinitingan ng investigation ang parameters at safety precautions doon sa resort. Sa pagkakaalam natin, wala silang lifeguard,” Domalanta said.
GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon visited the resort for a statement but the management refused to give one.
The boy’s family said the resort has already communicated with them for a settlement.
