Less seismic activity was recorded at Kanlaon Volcano, with only one volcanic earthquake logged since midnight of Wednesday, June 12, 2024, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

However, Alert Level 2 remains raised in Kanlaon as steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may still occur, PHIVOLCS stressed.

On June 11, 2024 Kanlaon Volcano emitted 2,792 tons of sulfur dioxide flux.

It also “generated a moderate 300-meter tall plume, which drifted south-southwest and southwest.”

Mount Kanlaon erupted on June 3, 2024, displacing thousands of residents in Negros Occidental.

PHIVOLCS warned that entry into Kanlaon Volcano’s 4-kilometer radius permanent danger zone, and flying any aircraft close to the volcano are prohibited.
