Over 400 houses inside the military reservation of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) in Barangay Patag, Cagayan de Oro are set to be demolished next week.
An official of 4ID said the two-month extension given to the residents inside the camp has lapsed.
“Being a responsible stakeholder hindi natin sila pababayaan despite meron na nga klaro na desisyon ang korte,” 4ID Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Francisco Garello, said.
The military said the residents have been given ample time to vacate the property as the writ of demolition was issued by the court in 2022 yet.
Barangay officials have expressed worry as several residents, some are retired soldiers, threatened to resist during the scheduled demolition.
“Somehow the traumatic experiences ang ila is pangkatapusan na lang sa ilang kinabuhi kay they have nothing to go we do not have proper shelter kay atong city housing karon 50 years old up you can’t apply anymore,” Barangay Chairman, Eric Abaday, said.
Barangay officials are also worried about the temporary shelters where the residents will be housed after the demolition.
4ID could not provide relocation but it has prepared personnel and vehicles for residents who will evacuate voluntarily.
“Rerespitohin natin ang desisyon ng korte na magsasabi kung ihinto ito but in the absence of that order tuloy tuloy po ang demolition,” Garello said.
