A 25-year-old man was stabbed by his own father to death in Barangay Alitaya, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

The victim, identified as Serafica de Leon, died from multiple stab wounds. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

His father is also in critical condition from a head injury caused by a blow from a rock.

Based on police investigation, both father and son were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, which may have made the disagreement worse.

"Siguro ito – ‘yung cause kung bakit nasobrahan is under the influence of liquor ýung ‘mag-ama – kaya isa ito sa nagpapalala ng situation. Instead of dating regular na away, lumala," PLTCOL. Roldan Cabatan, Chief of Mangaldan Police Station, said.

Merlita de Leon, the victim's mother, will file charges against her husband.

"Anong dahilan [man]? Kukuha ako ng hustisya [dahil] pinatay ang anak niya," De Leon said.

Investigation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues as of this writing.

"Naghahanap pa tayo ng karagdagang witness para ma-establish natin kung ano ba talaga ‘yung nangyari," Cabatan said.

Authorities remind the public to try to resolve problems by talking about them, before they worsen and lead to violence.
