A suspected leader of a criminal group allegedly behind the series of shooting incidents and illegal drug trade in Zamboanga City was arrested.
Police arrested alias “Boy” and his companion identified as alias “Rizal” during a buy-bust operation. Another suspect, alias “Jabal,” was killed after he allegedly fought back.
Seized from the suspects were suspected shabu worth around P870,400, a caliber .45 pistol, and ammunition.
The two are now detained and drug charges have already been filed against them.
Police said the two were arrested and jailed previously for a similar offense. They allegedly returned to illegal activities after they were released.
Alias “Boy” was also identified as the alleged perpetrator behind the killing of a businessman in the city on April 29, 2024.
“This operation underscores ZCPO’s unwavering commitment to combatting violent crime and drug trafficking. The arrest of the two, both repeat offenders, underscores the critical need for continuous robust law enforcement and active community participation,” Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Chief, Colonel Kimberly Molitas, said.
