The Antag Falls in Barangay Bayabas, Davao City has been closed temporarily to the public.
According to the barangay, trash has accumulated at the falls, left behind by locals and tourists, which prompted the barangay to close the site.
“Atong Miyerkules mi nag-session. Gisabutan namo sa council nga pasirad-an nalang.
Barangay officials are dismayed that people have treated Antag Falls as a dumping site for garbage. It is reportedly difficult for the barangay to control the entry of people to the site, especially during weekends and holidays.
“Ang plano namo pabantayan, magbutang mi og tao diha, pabantayan. Daghan man gud manganha diha, pabantayan unta namo pero tan-aw namo dili man ma-kontrol kay naa man gud gabii nga ang uban magdala na og higdaanan na nila unya manguli tag alas-dos na sa kadlawon manguli,” Parac said.
A purok leader said they support the council’s decision.
Authorities are mapping out the measures to implement following the decision to close.
