Prosecutors have found basis to elevate to court the case against the man accused of killing a Golden Retriever named 'Killua' in Nabua, Camarines Sur
In a three-page resolution, the Camarines Sur Provincial Prosecution Service said there is probable cause to file charges against the man for alleged violation of the Animal Welfare Act.
The resolution stated that the suspect should have first sought out the dog's owner or reported the incident to the barangay.
Even if the dog was causing inconvenience and tested positive for rabies, there should have been a proper process and approach to handle the situation.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) said they are satisfied with the development in Killua's case and believes the case will progress in court.s
“Natutuwa naman kami na nakakuha ng probable cause yung prosecutor kasi obvious din naman — meron talagang nangyaring krimen dito kay Killua. So we’re confident na—pag nag-progress ‘to into a court hearing ‘people of the Philippines na versus yung kay Solares," Ana Cabrera, Executive Director of PAWS, said.
