More than 20 hectares of farmlands have been damaged by flood in Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, damage is estimated to reach P500,000.

Authorities said some cornfields were almost wiped out by floodwaters almost waist deep in Barangay Labu-Labu I and Barangay Labu-Labu II.

The river also overflowed, reportedly.

At least 17 farmers in the two barangays are affected. The local government is already preparing the assistance for the farmers affected.

Several farmlands in the towns of Mamasapano and Ampatuan were also affected after the river overflowed.

Meanwhile, a landslide hit Glan, Sarangani. No one was reported hurt.

Personnnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) were quick to start clearing operations in the area.

Authorities urged motorists to be extra careful when travelling there.
