Four Russian nationals were rescued from a distressed yacht near San Miguel Island in Mapun, Tawi-Tawi on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Authorities launched a coordinated rescue operation after receiving a report about the distressed vessel.
The Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) said the four were travelling from Bali, Indonesia and bound for Subic, Zambales.
After the rescue, the four foreigners were given immediate assistance and were referred to the local government of Mapun.
PRO-BAR Director, Brigadier General Prexy Tanggawohn, lauded the swift response and the rescue of the foreign nationals at sea.
