Two children were reported missing amid the flooding in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur evening on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), authorities are still searching for the two-year-old and three-year-old children who went missing, as of this writing.

Among the areas affected by flood include Barangays Igabay and Molimoc.

MDRRMO said three houses were damaged and some animals died.

In Maguindanao del Norte, several families in Barangay Bugasan Sur, Matanog were evacuated due to heavy rains.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has started assessing the extent of damage.

Three barangays in Alabel, Sarangani were also flooded.

Police helped the stranded motorists while personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued some residents.

A house in Barangay Ladol was also damaged.

“Didto ang pinakamalakas na baha sa area sa Molo creek, may naapektuhan didto na isa ka balay na lapit mahulog sa creek,” Barangay Ladol Chairman, Adbon Blanco, said.

Authorities have started clearing the areas affected and assessing the extent of damage.

A portion of a dike in Barangay Nuing, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental reportedly gave in, causing floodwaters to enter into the houses near the river and prompting residents to leave their homes.

The local government have prepared food packs and other forms of assistance.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the downpour was caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ICTZ).
