A 52-year-old man in Pangasinan who was battling a chronic kidney disease died after he figured in an accident when he hit a dog that crossed the road while he was driving his motorcycle.

He was on his way to a dialysis session when he figured in an accident at 4 a.m. on July 11, 2024 in Barangay Doyong, Calasiao.

Police said the impact threw the man off his motorcycle, and because he was not wearing a helmet, his head hit the pavement directly.

“Nabangga niya ang aso. Malakas ang impact, at the same time, hindi siya nakasuot ng helmet kaya nabagok ang ulo niya,” said PLt.Col Ferdinand Lopez, officer-in-charge of the Calasiao Police Station.

The man sustained injuries in different parts of his body.

The dog also died.

“Biglaan, hindi siya namatay sa dialysis; sa isang iglap, ‘yan ang nangyari sa kanya kaya syempre nalungkot kami,” the victim’s relative said.

As of this writing, authorities are finding out if the dog had an owner.

“‘Yung may-ari, hindi namin ma-locate. HIndi tagarito ‘yung aso sa barangay kasi wala namang nag-report na may nawawalang aso,” said Henry Ferrer, chairman of Barangay Doyong.
