A tricycle burst into flames on JP Laurel Highway in Lipa City, Batangas.

The fire was reportedly triggered by a gas leak, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Lipa City.

“Sa hose po, 'yung gas po niya… doon sa may makina and then doon po nagsimula na po doon ang apoy po,” SFO1 Joel Contreras, Intelligence and Investigation, and Public Information Unit Chief of BFP Lipa City, said.

The tricycle driver and his two passengers were able to disembark quickly. 

Immediate assistance from establishments nearby helped contain the fire fast.

No one was hurt and no other vehicle was affected. Damage to property was pegged at P20,000. 

“Pagkadating po namin, naapula na po ito; kaya ang ginawa po namin agad ay sinecure namin, and chineck po namin kung meron pang apoy,” Contreras said.

Authorities advised that vehicles, whether public transport or private, be inspected regularly to prevent incidents that are caused by mechanical faults.
