Traffic congestion at the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) is expected with the temporary closure of the South Road Properties (SRP) Tunnel beginning Thursday, July 18, 2024.

According to the City of Talisay Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA), there will be lanes at the CSCR that will be closed temporarily as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) starts rehabilitation works in the tunnel where hairline cracks were observed.

The rehabilitation works are part of the preventive measures based on an inspection of the DPWH. But it was clarified that the situation is not alarming, CT-TODA said.

CT-TODA enforcers have vowed to help manage traffic flow on the CSCR, at a portion of Cebu City, especially with the scheduled opening of classes.

Classes will resume by July 29, 2024 for School Year 2024-2025 expected to compound congestion of vehicles during peak hours.

"Mosulod mi sa Cebu City para matabangan og habwa ang mga sakyanan, parehas sa among gibuhat sa Bulacao nga mosulod mi hangtod gyud sa [tungod sa] Citi Hardware," Jonathan Tumulak, CT-TODA chief, said.
