Up to 17 barangays in Northern Mindanao have been cleared of illegal drugs.

The Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) made the declaration during the deliberation at the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) on July 17, 2024.

These barangays are Lupitan, Madamba, Madaya, and Nunang in Piagapo, Lanao del Norte; Lagtang, Lourdes, Tula, and Lumbo in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental; Ulaliman in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental; Raw-an in Lalao, Lanao del Norte; Cogon, Pangawayan in Gitagum, Misamis Oriental; Tubigon and La Roxas in Maramag, Bukidnon; Mibantang in Quezon, Bukidnon; Kibatang in Don Carlos, Bukidnon; and Minsapinit in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) said out of the 1,866 drug-affected barangays in the region, the total number of barangays cleared of illegal drugs is now 1,537.

It means only 328 barangays have remained affected by the drug menace.

"This achievement is a testament to the collective commitment of our law enforcement agencies, local government units, and community stakeholders. We will continue to work together to ensure that our barangays remain drug-free," PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Ricardo Layug Jr., said.
