Nine passengers of a fishing boat were rescued after they went missing on July 23, 2024.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Pio Duran, the rescue was coordinated with the MDRRMO of Claveria.
The boat, which was supposed to dock at Pio Duran port, did not arrive as scheduled.
The fishing vessel, carrying nine people, had to dock at a different barangay in Pio Duran due to rough sea conditions caused by the southwest monsoon.
“Tulos man kitang nagresponde, an satuyang staff nagduman sa Miligan asin inaram an sitwasyon. Ini palan naglarga hale duman sa Miligan pauli sa Claveria alas-otso nin aga. Siguro po mahukol duman sa katahawan kaya naghanap sinda ki gilid [pangpang],” Noel Ordoña, head of MDRRMO Pio Duran, said.
Given the current sea conditions, authorities have advised local fishermen to refrain from sailing until the weather improves to prevent further incidents.
