A backhoe operator was injured when he was hit by a big rock during a rockslide at a quarry site in Barangay Masiag, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.
The operator was taken to the hospital immediately and is already safe.
The backhoe was also damaged by falling limestone.
According to the barangay council, a portion of the area the backhoe operator was digging reportedly gave in.
Continuous rains were blamed for the rockslide.
"That time po, ongoing yung quarry sa area and nagkataon na bumigay yung nasa taas na portion kaya yun nangyari ang insidente na 'yun,” Barangay Masiag Councilman Hernane Galve Jr. said.
Because of the incident, the quarry operation in the area is suspended temporarily.
Authorities have cleared the road that was blocked by rocks so it can be passable.
